If there's one thing Kesha knows how to do, it's tell stories. Here's a pretty good one: Two years ago, the aspiring pop singer and songwriter decided she wanted Prince to produce her first album. So, she found out his address and drove to his Beverly Hills home, where she paid the gardener five dollars to let her squeeze herself under his front gate. Then she hiked up the driveway (which was lined in purple velvet), let herself in through an unlocked side door, and rode the mirrored elevator up to the third floor where the Purple One himself was jamming with his band."It was kind of awkward,"she recalls,"but who cares, right? So I sat on one of the purple thrones in the room until he noticed me, which he finally did. He was like,"How the hell did you get in here?"she says with a laugh. The latest pop star on the block, Ke$ha, is gearing up for the release of her debut album ‘Animal,’ which drops on January 11.
New Zealand was the first country in the world to fully embrace Ke$ha and we made her single ‘Tik Tok’ hit the top of the charts long before anyone else did. But it looks like the US might finally be catching up as ‘Tik Tok’ is now sitting at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and it seems that Ke$ha maybe giving Jay-Z the competition he needs.
We’ve got a feeling that ‘Animal’ could be a hit since much of it was produced by Dr. Luke, who in the past has worked on songs such as Katy Perry’s ‘I Kissed A Girl,’ Miley Cyrus’ ‘Party In The USA,’ Flo Rida’s ‘Right Round’ and Kelly Clarkson’s ‘My Life Would Suck Without You.’
Awhile ago, MTV also reported that Ke$ha took to YouTube to say thank you to everyone in New Zealand who helped her song get to number one on the singles chart.
She said “I’m so excited..can’t wait to come visit you guys.”
Maybe once they album is out we might just be lucky enough for that to happen.
