Ke$ha Invents New Genre for Upcoming Album: “C–K Pop”
March 19th, 2012 | Filled in: Music, News | Written by Corey

Ke$ha’s certainly known for being crude with her songs, but could she invent a new genre purely for the sake of vulgarity? A recent statement on her Twitter account indicates that she is. As the “We R Who We R” singer is working on a follow-up to her 2010 hit album Animal, she’s taking a new approach. In describing a recent recording session, she wrote: “Wailing on an epic track with Doctor Luke & Benny Blanco. This is the dawn of a new genre of music: C–K POP!!!

What’s “c—k pop”? With her account getting hacked, the pop star regularly covered in glitter didn’t have a chance to explain herself. Previously, however, she’s made a few statements that could better pinpoint the sound. At one time, she mentioned that, when she’s upset, she’ll have her assistant dress up in a phallic costume.

On the other hand, “c—k pop” contradicts K-Dolla’s earlier statements about vulnerability on her follow-up. Considering the Beastie Boys an influence for her debut, she has since turned to the sounds of Iggy Pop, Led Zeppelin, and AC/DC. Covering a Bob Dylan song and recording with Alice Cooper might also point to a new attitude. Speaking with MTV, she talked about exposing her vulnerable side: “I very much want to be seen as a strong woman, but I realize that vulnerability can also be a strength. So on my next record, you are going to hear probably a little more of that. I’m not going to make an acoustic, sad entire record.
